Public access to Williams lodge
For some time, the door to access Williams lodge from outside was unlocked. Anyone from the street could access the buidling, without security in place.
Date: 3 Mar 20243. Security Breaches
You are mentioning "attempted break [in]". The issue of access security, or the lack thereof, contradicts your assertions of taking resident safety seriously. Here is a video recorded yesterday (02/03/2024): https://youtu.be/vyYaSxO1ryQ . In the video, I demonstrate how the building can be accessed without proper security measures like an operational fob system that would only let residents in. It is also a more recent recording of the water leak mentioned in the previous point
I would expect access to the building be restricted to people living in it. I don't want someone to steal my deliveries or asault me on my doorstep.
First reaction from MCR Homes
Date: 12 Mar 2024
- The whole development benefits from a secure fob access system. The site is manned daily Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so on occasion the door to the basement of Williams Lodge is left open to allow free movement for the contractors however it is secured each night.
As we can see on the video this email answers to, there are zero check on who accesses the building. And the door is always open, even at night. Double lie from MCR Homes.
Exposing the Lie Even More
We already see in the first video the access is not kept secure during the day, let's also show evidence for the second part of their lie.
Date: 12 Mar 2024Security and Access Control:
In the past few months, I've always seen the door in question open. During the day, or after 5pm, the door is not locked and anyone can get in. I recorded the following video at approx. 7:30 pm (after 5 pm) today: https://youtu.be/pYSUxDydFRM. As we can see, the door is not locked.
They admit they lied (by omission)
Date: 19 Mar 2024I can confirm that I have had the door looked it and it should be operating as it should this evening.
I was quite sure I would find the door open again, and already thinking about the next message i would send. Unexpectedly, MCR Homes did the right thing and fixed the security issue they created.
Update: 22/10/24
I moved out of the building in May 2024. End of October, I hapened to be in High Wycombe and went to check the MCR Homes building.
Although I don't have the keys (and shouldn't be able to enter the building), the door to the corridor was open. MCR Homes is still not bothering much about who has access to the building. The corridor to the elevator still has a bit hole and is still moldy. And cherry on top: the elevator is now out of order.
Conclusion
I managed to force the hand of MCR Homes into fixing one of the security issues! It seems they are ready to fix some of the safety issues if you are annoying enough.
The issue had been there for several months before I mentionned it in my 3 Mar 2024 email. From the above emails, I infer it's MCR Homes that decided to leave the door open; it wasn't a fault, it was done on purpuse.
As to why they fixed this issue, I believe it's because you are required, by law, to make the building somehow secure. And here, I could easily show it wan't. For the other issues, like fire safety, although I know there are issues, I can't prove much and they are happy to continue putting everyone at risk.
