MCR Homes finally gives a few answers
Thank you for your email. At this point I won’t provide any further comment on your apartment as you have completed the internal complaints procedure and were party to a teams meeting with our legal representative at which point you confirmed resolution of the issues.
In relation to your safety concerns, I strongly advise that you do not set fire to plastic within your apartment as this puts not only yourself but other residents at risk. Moreover the whole development benefits from a highly sensitive fire alarm system and if any activation is triggered by smoke the fire brigade will attend.
- The plastic coverings have been used to protect the carpets during external construction works, not to reduce cleaning. Furthermore, plastic carpet coverings are not prohibited.
- I can categorically confirm there has been no ceiling collapse in the car park basement. A hole was cut in the podium to drain the water away before construction started at the podium level. In relation to the corridor in question, the ceiling did not fall this was removed to locate and repair a leak.
- The whole development benefits from a secure fob access system. The site is manned daily Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm so on occasion the door to the basement of Williams Lodge is left open to allow free movement for the contractors however it is secured each night.
The Old Works benefit from a full alarm monitoring system and full sprinkler system, we take our Fire Safety concerns extremely seriously and strongly dispute claims that we do prioritise the health and safety of our residents.
I am sorry to hear that you have been dissatisfied with the communication from MCR Homes however I am confident that you have been kept updated on matters that relate to you and your apartment and across the course of your tenancy we have done what we can to satisfy your concerns.
Warm regardsRemarks
- "plastic carpet coverings are not prohibited" but don't deny they will spread fire, which puts residents' safety at risk
- I now know not to follow "you confirmed resolution of the issues". There are still many issues they said they would fix, but didn't, as explained in a previous answer
- We are now in April, and the hole in the ceiling is still not fixed. Water is still coming down and the walls have never been so covered in mould
- The building is not "full sprinkler system". My flat is, but no splinklers above the flamable plastic coverings
- "[we] strongly dispute claims that we do prioritise the health and safety of our residents", which I agree with
