Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service answers to email
Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your concerns about the Old Works, Leigh Street and the challenges you are currently experiencing with MCR Homes.
We have been working with MCR Homes for an extended period and have conducted several visits to the premises. BFRS is actively engaged in regular review meetings with MCR Homes, with the aim of resolving the fire safety management issues.
While we understand and acknowledge the challenges you are encountering with MCR Homes, it's important to note that not all the issues raised fall directly within the scope of our legislation, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Nevertheless, please be assured that we are following our processes to address the concerns to the best of our ability, albeit progress may be gradual.
It's worth noting that the flats themselves are equipped with 60-minute fire-rated compartments, and the entire building is fully sprinklered. There is evidence demonstrating the effectiveness of sprinklers in rapidly controlling the spread of fire, providing an additional layer of reassurance in terms of fire safety.
The Housing team at Bucks County Council have also been actively working with MCR Homes. If you are happy for me to, I will forward your concerns to them, ensuring that they are aware of your specific issues and can provide any additional information or assistance as needed.
Regards,
Remarks
- BFRS believes the building is fully sprinklered
- Bucks Council is also "working with MCR Homes" (aka. trying to fix issues)
- There wouldn't be "regular review meetings with MCR Homes" if there were no issues
- BFRS believes the council "can provide any additional information or assistance as needed" if contacted
I didn't put the email chain with BFRS on this website. They are good people that want to help. You are awesome, continue the good work!
